Frankfurt Shopping: Where to Shop - Frankfurt, Germany, DE
No visit to Frankfurt is really complete without a shopping trip around the Zeil area, home to the busiest shopping streets in the whole of Germany. This bustling district is the premier place to shop in Frankfurt and the area located between both Konstablerwache and Hauptwache is particularly good. However, for serious shopping with a capital 'S', head to the streets that lie directly south of the Fressgasse, where you will find superb jewellers, fashion boutiques and many gourmet treats.
Many exclusive stores and boutiques in Frankfurt also reside along the Goethestrasse and Schillerstrasse, and offer all kinds of goods, ranging from designer clothing to antiques stores specialising in German porcelain. Nearby, a number of interconnecting back streets are where you will find the smallest, most quirky shops and junk stores, and often the best bargains and curios.
A handful of less upmarket shops are also located around Frankfurt's Bornhim, Bockenheim, Northend and Sachsenhausen, and also the railway station, along the Taunusstrasse. In particular, the Berger Strasse, Schweizer Strasse and Leipziger Strasse stretches around central Frankfurt are good places to begin your shopping trip, with boutiques, second-hand clothing stores, coffee shops and plenty of gift ideas. However, for genuine bargains and a taste of local life, a visit to the riverside Saturday flea market is in order.
